Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I)

Do you have chronic difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep?   A recent CDC survey of almost 75,000 adults found 35% getting less than seven hours sleep per night.  Inadequate sleep has wide ranging negative effects on all aspects of your physical and emotional health.

We are pleased to offer CBT-I, which treats insomnia without the use of medication.  The National Institute of Health (with more than 30 years of research) finds CBT-I to be safe, effective and the preferred method of treating chronic insomnia.  CBT-I can be as effective as sleep medications. It is also effective with patients who are struggling with other issues including depression, anxiety, PTSD, cancer and chronic pain.

The treatment consists of 6-8 visits with a  CBT-I trained therapist.  You will complete sleep assessments, keep a sleep diary and work on improving the quality and efficiency of your sleep.  We can help you practice specific techniques focused on the underlying causes of your insomnia; deal with lifestyle factors contributing to your insomnia; recognize thoughts and beliefs that affect your ability to sleep and learn techniques to combat stress.
